Since 1998, I enjoyed being part of more than 40 water, wastewater treatment and waste-to-energy projects as commissioning engineer, team leader or manager, mainly in England, but also in Northern Ireland, France, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Iran, Philippines

Being part of so many different project delivery teams and having to solve such a wide variety of technical or management challenges kept my interest high. However, while each project is a different human adventure, two common themes started to emerge:

- The technical challenge of managing the integration (or lack of) of people and systems from various fields – including process, mechanical, electrical and automation – always in a very limited time and often with limited resources.

- The challenge of managing the human factor of projects. This highlighted the importance of outstanding communication skills, without which nothing could be completed efficiently.

While developing a set of skills in those two important aspects of project management, I also decided to continue my professional journey in 2010 by deepening my understanding of human nature, starting with myself, through the practice and teaching of yoga.

After 15 years of yoga practice, I taught yoga at several studios and retreat centers, medical clinics and even businesses in Paris, Hanoi, Sydney, Bali and Ankara, then decided to resume my engineering career, integrating some yogic practices into management in the building industry. I established Suan Ltd in 2013, since when I have helped to deliver major projects focusing on wastewater treatment and energy from waste plants, as well as working on a number of technical studies and consultancy commissions.
